The state of your skin depends on a number of factors. The most common mistake made by many is the use of incorrect products that may address the type of skin, but not the skin condition present. .i.e. - one oily skin may not be the same as another oily skin. The condition of a skin varies with each individual and change with:
The other common mistake made by many, is the "over stimulation" of the skin, usually by "over-washing" with hot water, harsh soaps, rough wash cloths and buff puffs.
Morning Skin Care Regimen
First, stop using soap to cleanse. It not only strips the skin of its natural moisture factor leaving it dry and flaky, but also destroys the acid pH mantle, a skin barrier that protects us from the infiltration of bacteria and infection. Using soap can be equated to using a harsh cleanser. Instead, use a mild facial wash with tepid water. Gently wash your face with your fingers using a circular motion.
Rinse thoroughly. Blot dry with a soft fluffy towel. Avoid rubbing or pulling on the face. This cleansing process should be done once in the morning and once again before bedtime.
Evening Skin Care Regimen
Remove all traces of make up. Wash and dry face as you do for AM. Once a week exfoliate with a recommended enzyme, glycolic, alpha or beta hydroxy acid. If recommended use a vitamin C or retinol cream. Follow up with a rejuvenating mask that addresses your skin type and condition.
Last but not least, let a renewal cream work for you all night while you sleep. It will gently nourish the skin and encourage cellular turnover for a more radiant appearance.
